Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had a twin setup installed: one cold room, one walk-in freezer, both running monoblocks. The build is immaculate. Panels are flush, doors seal tight, and the monoblock units are super compact so we saved space on pipework. Pulled down to temp in a few hours and been rock solid since. Zero condensation, floors are heavy duty, and the porthole doors are handy for checks. Crew were quick, tidy, and explained all the controls. Proper commercial job.Posted on Google Jeremiah PaulTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 5 stars for our new cold room install. Need a cold room put in? We supply and fit bespoke chillers and freezer rooms for kitchens, shops, restaurants and food producers, right across the borough and out towards the Pennine edge. Same engineers every time, F-Gas certified, 25 years at it. A chiller behind a market stall in town and a cold store on a unit at Dodworth are barely the same job, and we do both. Cold room installation in Barnsley is our speciality, so book a free survey and we’ll come and look at the space.
A cold room is never a one-size product. Two kitchens the same square footage can need completely different rooms, depending on how much stock turns over and where your staff actually walk. Which is why we survey first. Nobody can price this properly over the phone, whatever they tell you.
Here’s what our Barnsley cold room fitters take care of, from the first site visit to final handover:
We measure the space, check access and look at power supply and drainage.
We plan a room around your stock levels, your workflow and any awkward corners.
We build the walls and ceiling from PIR panels — rigid foam-cored panels that lock together to seal in the cold.
We size and fit the condensing unit, the part that pumps heat out of the room, so it copes on the warmest day of the year.
Non-slip insulated floors, tight door seals and heavy-duty hinges built for constant use.
Hygienic racking laid out so staff can find stock fast.
Digital controllers, temperature alarms, and a full test before we hand over.
Whether you found us searching for cold room engineers Barnsley or just asked a mate in the trade who to call, you get the same job either way. Built properly, tested hard before we leave, and no surprises six months down the line.
Plenty of firms will call themselves a cool room installer Barnsley can hire. The one worth choosing is the team still picking up the phone two years after the install. At Coldroomplus, we pair real technical know-how with long-term support.
Most kitchens need a chiller at 0°C to 5°C for fresh produce, dairy and prepped food. Frozen storage runs at -18°C to -22°C. We handle both chilled builds and freezer room installation Barnsley sites depend on, and we can fit twin rooms where you need chilled and frozen space side by side.
That matters more here than in most places, because a good many of these rooms go into older buildings where nothing was designed around them. Barnsley has a serious market trade, butchers and bakers through the town and the villages, and food production and distribution out along the M1 corridor, and plenty of it works out of premises that have been adapted rather than purpose-built. Add the restaurants and takeaways, the care homes and school kitchens, and the farm shops out towards Penistone and Cawthorne, and a lot rides on holding temperature. Your EHO will check it too. Every room we build comes with digital controls and an alarm, so you hear about a drift while it is still a drift and not a skip full of ruined stock.
There’s a legal side too. Refrigerant gas must be handled by qualified people under F-Gas rules, the UK law covering how these gases are installed, checked and disposed of. Our engineers are F-Gas certified and Level 3 RACHP qualified, so your paperwork is right from day one.
Panels are smooth and wipe-clean, joints sealed properly, so nobody’s scrubbing at a seam on a Friday night. Sizing is the other thing people get wrong. An oversized unit burns money every hour it runs; an undersized one never quite catches up in summer and dies young.
We proudly work with leading global brands to deliver reliable, high-performance refrigeration and HVAC solutions.
Five stages, same order, every job. It’s how we keep the quality consistent and the paperwork clean.
We provide a free site survey within a 50-mile radius to assess feasibility, access, structural considerations, and power supply.

We’re a UK-wide firm and Barnsley is firmly on our map. We cover the borough and everything around it, including Worsbrough, Ardsley, Stairfoot, Kendray, Monk Bretton, Lundwood, Athersley, Smithies, Wilthorpe, Gawber, Barugh Green, Dodworth, Darton, Mapplewell, Staincross, Royston and Cudworth, and out to Wombwell, Hoyland, Elsecar, Jump, Birdwell, Darfield, Great Houghton, Grimethorpe, Thurnscoe, Goldthorpe, Silkstone, Cawthorne, Hoylandswaine, Thurgoland, Oxspring and Penistone. Trade and industrial work takes us onto the M1 between junctions 36 and 38, along the A61, A628, A633 and A635, and onto the estates at Dodworth, Wombwell, Carlton, Redbrook, Capitol Park and the Dearne Valley parkway.
We look after all sorts here: market traders, butchers, bakers and grocers, restaurants, takeaways and pubs, food producers and packers on the estates, wholesalers, hotels and contract caterers, care and residential homes, school and college kitchens, pharmacies, and farm shops out in the villages. Here is the bit nobody looks at until an inspector does. Unless a room goes right up to the ceiling there is a gap over the top of it, and that gap collects dust, grease and whatever else drifts about a kitchen, out of sight and out of reach. You either seal the room to the ceiling so there is nothing to collect, or you leave enough room to actually get up and clean it, and the worst answer is the one most people end up with, which is a four-inch gap nobody can reach. That is a decision worth making at design stage. If your postcode starts with S70 through S75, chances are we cover you.
If you’ve been typing cold room installers near me and squinting at the results, save yourself the bother. Ring 07445 699 925 and we’ll tell you straight whether you’re in our patch.
We don’t publish fixed prices. Not to be cagey, it’s just that a small café chiller and a room sealed properly to an old uneven ceiling are barely the same job, and quoting a number here would only mislead you.
These are the things that move the price up or down:
Bigger rooms need more panels and a larger refrigeration unit.
Freezer rooms cost more than chillers. They need thicker panels, heated door frames and stronger plant.
The make, size and efficiency of the condensing unit is often the biggest single cost.
Cramped kitchens behind shop fronts, older adapted buildings, or sealing a room up to an uneven ceiling add labour time.
Some sites need floor levelling, drainage or an electrical upgrade before we can build.
What you will get is an itemised quote with nothing buried in it, and the figure we agree is the figure you pay. That’s the whole point of surveying first.
Want a rough figure before we visit? Send us your approximate dimensions through our free quote page and we’ll come back with a realistic range.
A well-built cold room quietly pays for itself. A badly built one is a running cost and a worry for as long as you own it. We’ve been doing this 25 years in kitchens and cold stores much like yours, so ring 07445 699 925 and we’ll talk it through, or book the free survey and we’ll come to you.

It depends on size, temperature, the refrigeration unit and site access. Small chillers start at a few thousand pounds; large freezer rooms cost considerably more. A free site survey gets you an exact, itemised quote with no obligation.
Most standard rooms are built and running within one to three days on site. Larger or more complex projects take longer, and we’ll give you a clear timeline in your quote.
Very little in most cases. We plan the build around your service hours where we can, and much of the work happens without touching your existing kit until the switch-over.
It does, and it is worth sorting quickly. Water sitting on top of the panels will find any joint or fixing eventually, and once it is into the insulation the panel is on borrowed time. It also tends to run along the top and appear somewhere that looks like a fault with the room itself. Get the roof seen to first, then let us look at what has been sitting wet, because the sooner that is caught the more likely it is a clean-up rather than a replacement.
If there is a gap up there, yes, and it is one of the things an environmental health officer will look for precisely because most people forget it. Dust and grease settle on the top of the panels the same as anywhere else, and it is worse in a kitchen with fryers or ovens. The practical answers are to seal the room to the ceiling so nothing can collect, or to leave a proper working gap with safe access. We will talk it through at survey rather than leave you to discover it.
Yes. Every room is made to measure. Sloped ceilings, cellar sites, tight footprints and older buildings are all normal jobs for us.
Chillers typically run at 0°C to 5°C and freezer rooms at -18°C to -22°C. If you need a specific holding temperature for dairy, meat or pharmaceuticals, we’ll design for it.
Yes. All our engineers are F-Gas certified, which UK law requires for anyone installing or working on refrigerant systems. You’ll get the right documentation for your records.
Every installation comes with a 1-year extended warranty, and we fit genuine spare parts if anything ever needs replacing.
Yes. We offer ongoing servicing plans and emergency repairs, so the team that built your room is the team that looks after it.
For a survey, usually just a few days. For the build itself it depends on the design and our schedule, call us and we’ll give you honest lead times, not wishful ones.
Almost certainly. We work right across the borough, from Worsbrough and Ardsley to Monk Bretton, Athersley, Dodworth, Darton and Cudworth, and out to Wombwell, Hoyland, Elsecar, Royston, Grimethorpe, Cawthorne and Penistone. Give us your postcode and we’ll confirm straight away.
