Cold room panels are the insulated building blocks of any chilled or freezer room. They form the walls, ceiling and, where needed, the floor.
Each panel is a sandwich: two steel facings bonded to a thick foam core. That foam is what keeps the cold in and the heat out. Most of ours are PIR cold room panels — PIR is a rigid foam (polyisocyanurate) that insulates very well for its thickness. Older or budget builds sometimes use polyurethane cold room panels, which are similar but slightly less efficient.
The panels lock together with a built-in camlock fitting. That’s a cam-and-hook mechanism, turned with a key, that pulls two panels tight for an airtight, draught-free seal. The result is a strong, sealed shell that holds temperature with very little energy.
Every room is different, so we keep a wide range and match the panel to the job.
The thicker the core, the colder you can go and the lower your running costs. As a rough guide:
Not sure which to choose? That’s what the survey is for. We’ll recommend the right core, thickness and finish for your room.
Coldroomplus is a trusted UK supplier known for delivering high-performance panels, reliable service, and long-lasting cold storage solutions. Here’s why businesses across the UK choose us:
Panels only earn their keep if the room holds temperature, every day. The right thickness makes that easy.
A chilled room usually runs at around 1 to 4°C, which keeps fresh food below the 8°C food-safety limit with room to spare. A freezer room holds around -18°C or colder. Colder rooms need thicker panels, which is why freezers use 120mm and up.
Refrigerant gas is tightly regulated. F-Gas is the set of rules covering how that gas is handled, charged and recovered. Our engineers are F-Gas certified, so the refrigeration side is done legally and safely — no shortcuts, no fines later.
Smooth, wipe-clean facings and well-sealed joints make a panelled room easy to keep clean and ready for an EHO visit.
Our panels are precision-engineered to deliver reliable insulation, long-term durability, and energy efficiency. Manufactured using advanced 600-tonne pressure technology, each panel features a dense, void-free core that ensures consistent thermal performance with no weak points.
Designed for commercial and industrial use across the UK, our panels help reduce energy consumption, improve temperature control, and extend the life of your refrigeration systems.
At the heart of our panels is a high-density polyurethane (PU) core, injected at 42 ±2 kg/m³ for optimal performance.
This advanced insulation material offers:
The closed-cell structure prevents water absorption, making it perfect for food storage, distribution centres, and high-humidity cold rooms.
Each panel is finished with 0.50 mm metal sheets, creating a strong, hygienic, and easy-to-clean surface.
This ensures:
The combination of metal facing and polyurethane core creates a robust panel system built for commercial cold storage applications.
We proudly work with leading global brands to deliver reliable, high-performance refrigeration and HVAC solutions.
Fire safety in cold storage is critical and must meet UK regulations. Our cold room panels are supplied with B2 fire resistance as standard, offering reliable flame-retardant performance. For projects requiring higher protection—such as public facilities or pharmaceutical storage—we also offer B1-rated panels on request, ensuring compliance with stricter building and insurance requirements. Our team will guide you in selecting the right fire rating based on your project needs.
Our panels feature an advanced camlock joining system, ensuring quick, secure, and airtight connections. This built-in mechanism tightly locks panels together, preventing air leaks, condensation, and thermal loss. The result is faster installation, consistent sealing, and long-term reliability—helping your cold room perform efficiently with minimal disruption to your operations.
For customers who need their cold room operational quickly — which is the majority of businesses in food, hospitality, and logistics — the fast installation characteristics of our camlock system are a genuine operational advantage.
There’s no single price for a set of panels, because no two rooms are the same. Anyone quoting a flat figure online hasn’t seen your space.

Not every cold storage project fits standard sizes. Complex layouts, unique temperature requirements, and specialised applications often need a more tailored approach.
At Coldroomplus, we manufacture fully customised cold room panels to match your exact specifications. Our team works from drawings, site surveys, or briefs to deliver panels in non-standard sizes, with options like pre-cut openings, integrated door frames, and multi-chamber configurations.
This flexibility allows us to support both large-scale industrial projects and bespoke installations, delivering precision, performance, and reliability every time.
Whether it’s a few replacement panels or a full walk-in freezer, we’ll supply and fit panels that hold temperature and last. Get a fair, honest quote with no obligation. Call 07445 699 925 or request your free site survey now.

It depends on the size of the room, the panel thickness and the finish you choose. Thin chiller panels cost far less than thick freezer panels. We give a fixed, written quote after a free survey, so you know the price upfront.
Chillers usually run on 80mm or 100mm panels, while freezers need 120mm, 150mm or more. Tell us your target temperature and we’ll recommend the right one.
Both are foam-cored insulated panels. PIR insulates a little better for the same thickness, so you can often go thinner for the same performance. We’ll advise which suits your room and budget.
Yes. We supply panels on their own for your own fitter, or design and install the full room. Just tell us which you need.
Yes. Our bespoke cold room panels are built to your exact measurements and work around pillars, low ceilings and tight corners. That’s what the survey is for.
Yes. Smooth, wipe-clean facings and sealed joints make a panelled room easy to keep clean and ready for inspection. Hygienic facings are available for wash-down areas.
Yes. Our engineers are F-Gas certified, which means the refrigerant gas is charged and recovered to the legal standard. That keeps you compliant and the room safe.
Installs come with a 1-year extended warranty, and we use genuine spare parts. If something fails, we put it right.
We do. We offer emergency repairs and ongoing support, so a knocked or damaged panel gets sorted fast before it affects your temperature.
